This is my basic background story, setting the scene if you like;
I have had no problems with my 2mb Orange Broadband connection so far (touch wood!!) so it would seem I am a lucky one. Riding on this good fate I decided to attempt to go Wireless, quite a large step for a technophobe like myself. I bought a 3Com router which I believed to be an alright(ish) and wasn't to expensive. I ran the wizard, input the settings listed on a linked page and after 1 week (told you I wasn't very good!) I managed to get onto Google. The joy! I was bouncing. I did a search and sure enough it retrieved the results. Every section of Google worked as did the updating function on my internet security. Then the problem began.
Once I have Googled Wikipedia, for example, I click on the link and wikipedia will fail to load. This happens to EVERY link out of google. I also managed to navigate the Firefox browsers add-on page but then could not download any add-ons. My routers troubleshooter is telling me the problem will be due to my ISP but I was wondering if this was true.
Does anyone have an idea on how to rectify this. I have tried (in total) for 3 weeks to go wireless (yes, I know, i'm crap) and am struggling. I am reluctant to ring Orange Customer Service as i've read bad things and don;t want to spend 50p/min to get no resolution. Please, please, please give me suggestions!!!
Many thanks to all who have read this and I look forward to any replies,
There was a similar thread in the 8 meg forum, seems to be it's a setting called MTU which causes this sort of problem. I'm not familiar with how to change it myself though.
