If it happens a lot more in the evenings then it suggests there's some form of interference causing the problem. A new router may help but you could equally end up with the same problems.
Just tried ringing up Orange about this problem as it took 30 mins to connect to my live box this afternoon. The singal went from very strong to none existant instantly.
Orange said "our computers are down, but we will take you through the fault fixing process anyway".
The second question was "What type of wireless adaptor, do you have?", so I said Belkin and it was "You have to contact Belkin, thank you for your call, goodbye!"
Looks like they won't support the livebox unless you get their adaptor...
Well really they ought to have tried to help. When you tried changing channels did you try a good number of them or just a couple? Sometimes it can take some time channel hunting before you hit one where you get the best signal.
