Have finally succeeded in migrating to BT Business from Orange. I wonder if anyone has had similar problems?
10th April: BT Line is supposedly activated. HOWEVER, it doesnt work, and a call to BT confirms that there is still an LLU loop on my line with Orange.
11th April:
-I call Orange to ask to have the loop/tag on the line removed. However Orange tell me they can't do that, and to ask BT to do it.
-I call BT, who say they can't remove the tag and Orange need to do it
-I call Orange again, who say that the MAC code may have been invalid, and I would have to give 30 days notice to leave Orange. They say"Call BT"
-I call BT AGAIN, and ask them. BT have done everything possible at their end to get the problem sorted. I need to contact Orange.
I call Orange AGAIN who tell me that they can't remove the tag because by now the BT office is closed.
12th April:
-I call Orange, who tell me the same "30 day" garb. "BTs Fault"
-I call BT again, who say there is nothing they can do.
-I call Orange YET AGAIN and finally the woman on the phone contacts their tech department and gets the tag removed. I'm now waiting on the BT service to take over.
Things I would love to know:
WHY Did some of them say nothing could be done, but 2 of them said they would remove the tag?
WHY Did it take me so much time and effort to get the 2 ISPs to talk to each other?
WHY Wasn't the Orange tag removed in the first place?

Depends on the department, should have been specialist provisions who do that I believe.

When LLU is involved things can get a little more complicated. It all depends on who you talk to and what systems they have access to for this sort of stuff.

Hard to say exactly, if you used a MAC code then BT's system should have automatically ordered the LLU removal, otherwise it shouldn't have given you a mirgration date.
Thanks for your reply. It is all very confusing. BT were showing my account as active, but it wasnt working because of the Orange tag on the line. I Phoned about 5 or 6 times and kept getting sent back and forth between Orange and BT.
All of my calls to Orange were to the same call centre, and some of the agents told me it couldnt be removed without waiting 30 days. After a few calls I finally got through to someone who was willing to do something.
Just another little question, how long should I be waiting now before I switch to BT.... Orange cancelled my account today.
Ok well that depends on exactly what's gone on so far, it's very hard to tell without actually seeing the systems.
Most broadband connections get listed as LLU these days due to how they're now ordered all through the same system.
If you were on an IPStream line and if it's just the tag and everything else is done then it shouldn't take long. However I suspect that's not the full story.
If you're on a real LLU line then things get a bit more problematic. LLU has to be taken off and IPStream put on to go to BT. It's possible the LLU has been taken off but the line is still tagged as Orange's, something that should get sorted pretty quickly. However if the LLU hasn't been removed then you're practically at the start of the process still.
That sounds about right! I'm hoping its not going to be too long. It was very demeaning to have some clearly poorly trained girl reciting rote to me some information which she had clearly been told to repeat, and not actually understanding its meaning.
