Putting aside the problems I am having installing my livebox can anyone tell me if this setup would work?
Main pc to box via ethernet, 2 other pcs to box via pc line 5 port switching box? (thiks its a router, one cable to my pc, 2 cables out to the other pcs)
What I want is for the other 2 pcs to be able to use the net without my one being on all the time, as it has to be currently. I DO NOT want it to go wireless as this would impair the speed and also I would have to buy wireless cards etc, so just want a good old plain wired connection for the 3 pcs.
Should be fine, if it is a switch then there shouldn't really be anything to do except connect up the cables and it should just work.
Just remember the 2 you connect through the switch would be sharing a single 100mbps link to the livebox so you might want to try and put the lesser used systems on the switch. That way they don't fight for the bandwidth so much.
