I have a Connection dropping problem that i can't seem to solve, wouldn't mind a little advice.
The connection can drop out at any time, sometimes many times a day, or just once or twice a month. Once the connection drops it comes back when it feels like it, and not down to anything i do.
I have used two different Liveboxes, and a ADSL ethernet router, all new items.
I have replaced all the leads and microfilters Three times, again everything new.
Both wireless and ethernet ware tried, and i have reset all the Liveboxes and ADSL to factory defaults prior to resetting my connction details. all at least a dozen times.
The Liveboxes and the ADSL keep telling me there is no phoneline connection. I have made half a dozen calls to the Asian customer service helpline and tried everything that they threw at me.

a common thread runs here. i too have experienced all of your probs. the only way Orange could keep my connection stable was to drop my download speed to 0.5mb!!!!!
this does the trick but is too slow........... hence i'm off to Sky to give them a whirl.
orange then provided me with TWO MAC codes, of course they then told me the wrong one was valid. Sky rejected it after 3 weeks of waiting for migration!!!!!

I had exactly the same problems with my Orange connection for the entire 12 months I was with them. I tried everything to get the connection stable. I think, basically, it comes down to your phone line. You're never going to get a brilliant connection down a bit of flimsy copper wire that could be decades old unless you're next door to the exchange.
I switched to NTL/Virgin once my Orange contract was up and have never looked back. My 4mb connection is rock solid (via cable not phone line). It has never dropped out and speed loss is only minimal even at peak times.
