I Emailed Orange to complain about my slow connection speed after an 8Mb "Upgrade". Been put onto LLU.
This is the reply. Anyone know anything about this or is it more Bull S***??
"Thank you for your email.
Sorry for the inconvenience, there is a fault on the broadband network
and the engineers have reduced the connection speeds on a tempory basis
to maintain a majority of stable internet connections.
Once the fault is resolved, the speed will increase.
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in

TBH the old adage "I'll believe it when I see it" is appropriate here. This is email is not only deliberately ambiguous and it's designed to fob you off- so yes you are right it is bullsh!t. They feed you this crap to give them at least a months breathing space from you "whining" at them because you think they are on the job.
Until someone here who is on 608/288 gets their speed increased to an appropriate level, I will not believe any claims to fix problems because, well no ones LLU problems have been fixed.
its certainly a pile of C**P !! they are now having to make excuses for themselves cos they dont know how to fix all these problems...
I got back online tonight ....offline since beginning of January thanks to the theiving b****rds who call themselves Orange...and guess what...
my speed has gone up from between zero and 34kbps MAX with Orange up to 6500kbps with an ISP who obviously knows what they are doing,
upload has gone up from 200+ to around 480
all for the sake of switching from one provider to another... i think that says it all doesn't it...
Obviously ONE knows what they are doing .... and Orange? .....obviously NOT !!
Good luck guys ....if you stay with Orange you need all the luck you can get and LOTS of it. I just wonder how many excuses they can come up with before ALL of their customers get sick and move elsewhere??
JUST SPENT ANOTHER HOUR AND HALF ON THE PHONE TONIGHT STATING THAT I WISHED TO CAN MY CONTRACT WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. I had spoken to them on 17/02/07 and advised that if problem wasnt fixed (LLU Woolston) I wanted to cancel my contract. I was originally told that I would need to give 30 days notice. However after arguing with them they agreed the would cancel straight away (this was agreed on 17/02/07) NO NOTES ON MY ACCOUNT - Today after numerous other phonecalls chasing progress of the fault resoloution without avail, no call backs or updates, I phoned to cancel. I have been told that I need to give 30 days notice. Is this right when they are in breach of contract? I have been with Orange since the days of Freeserve! So what I want to know is the quickest way of getting out of this hell. Do I request my MAC code, if so who is good and will the accept my code as its LLU. Or..... do I request that Orange remove themselves from my line.... Ive been told tonight this will take 30+ days and cannot be done any quicker. However, I am sure I read that Orange CAN REMOVE thier tag in 24 hours. Help me please I'm at a loss.
Strange one that cos when i cancelled it went through that same night !...They refused me a MAC code so i had no alternative but to cancel to get away from something i was paying for which didnt work, these people just make it up as they go along.
Ask for a MAC code, they HAVE to provide that within 5 days (unless they wanna pay out LOTS of money of course) and it will mean you dont lose your connection until it transfers to another ISP.
These people have really not got a clue how to deal with CUSTOMERS......
REMEMBER THOSE Orange? THEY ARE THE PEOPLE WHO PAY YOUR WAGES !!

I was a Freeserve customer and I cancelled my Orange Broadband on February 20. I was told I had to give 30 days notice but after complaining louldy the account was cancelled within 24 hours and I was given a promise the line would clear on February 27. It actually took another long complaining phone call but it was cleared last night. I'm now awaiting delivery of my Sky wireless router, my up to 16mb download and up to 768 upload and my £10 per month Broadband. Complain like hell and they'll shut your account immediately. Alternatively shout a lot and ask for a MAC code and go somewhere else with a supposedly seamless tranfer.
Well I had the same problems when LLU'd in Feb 2006, went from a nice stable 2meg, never a hiccup or drop out, down to 1/2 meg then nothing!
I put up with trying to get it sorted and jumped through every hoop Orange suggested till Sept (been a customer since freeserve 8 years).
I did a cease, couldn't be ar**d with their MAC runaround or offers of this that and the other.
10 days later new ISP on line on time, the equipment arrived on time, router pluged in and worked immediatly, 10 mins later b/b phone (with local number) up and running, speed from day one back to a nice steady 2 meg (I don't expect better speeds due to distance from exchange).
So since 2nd October I have had a nice steady connection, a b/b phone that has worked without fault, no disconnections, no problems, no spam, emails that get to their destination, etc.
The only change has been ISP.
So what is temporary ?
It's whatever Orange, in their arrogance, want it to be!
It certainly isn't what a normal thinking person thinks temporary means.
How long will it take to repair?
According to Oranges stock replies, 24hrs, 48hrs, 5days, 10days, we don't know, what problem!!!! I could go on.
If I had stayed with them it would have been 12 months and still not fixed!
I should think Orange have a real problem with this site because it is cataloging all issues, which eventually it will be impossible to lie about them.
It is not bull***t at least not on behalf of the agents, if you call Orange to report slow speeds the current advice to agents is to not submit faults for Ipmax or LLU as they aware of the issue already, this is a national issue and 'there is no timescale for a response'
Actually this is bullsh!t because considering the timescale this issue has been around i.e. months theres has been not one single person with the slow LLU bb having been 'fixed'- Not one. So I'm going to stick to my comments, this letter has been produced for nothing more than damage limitation.

Actually, as far as I'm aware its LLU only. IPStream is thankly not withing the maintenance remit of Orange and tends to perform ok.
Sounds like the info passed to the agents is only masqarading as bull***t. Presumably passed down from the Head of bull***t who sits comfortably somewhere in the upper anals of Orange!!!!
I can find information about Max but details of LLU is very little.
Thats because there are no real details that are supplied for it.
There are some similarities to this Tiscale LLU FAQ. If people like I'll quote it here and try and list the differences between them. Don't have the time to do it right now so it would be later tonight if you want it.
