ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 18.3
Attenuation (dB) : 60.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 5088
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 2272 288
While I appreciate the attenuation for this line is high, I only ever see a download speed of 2272kbps.
Could this be associated to the fact that my BT line is split at the main box to 2 numbers - 1 my private line and the second (on which Broadband runs) is a business line.
Having seen other stats I would expect to get a download speed in the region of 5000kbps but the 2272kbps nevew moves.
I have also tried changing the Protocal to PPPoE with no apparent difference.
Looks like you're on LLU, most LLU customers are capped at 2.6-7MEg, 3ish-meg if you're lucky so that could be your problem
Definately on LLU - if not I would have moved from Orange but with LLU could not afford the 3 ~ 4 Weeks wait for the line to be released by Orange then taken up by another supplier.
If the problem is capping - is there a route to complain as the Orange pro-mo does offer "up to 8 megs subject to line status". ?
This looks to me like a fixed 2 meg service. Attainable is only an indication of what you may get based on factors such as line attenuation, noise and other quality issues.

First of all see my other post. I do not believe you are on LLU. You appear to be on fixed 2 meg service. Because of this you are not being capped.
You will only get upto 8meg if you take that package. It is difficult to know for sure what you would get as a download speed with the 8 meg service but I would hazard a guess and say between 3 and 4.5 meg. Could be more, could be less. No way of knowing for sure until you get the actual service.
Definately LLU and has been for the past 9 months at least - my package is Broadband Unlimited and when first notified was expected to achieve a 5Meg connection which as you see did not happen - after various line checks they (Orange) informed me that I was getting the highest speed available for my line - it was only when I replaced my Netgear Modem Router with the Livebox that I was aware of the attainable speed.
Checked everything out - I am on LLU and should be getting around 5.5Meg - see comment from Orange :
"I had a look on the account and can see from the account that you have
already been provisioned for a 5.5Mbps connection and you should be able
to receive those speeds. What i would advise is that you get in contact
with our technical support department on the number below so they can do
a linetest for a slow speed. We are not allowed to do linetest's over
emails."
This is why I wondered if splitting the line into 2 numbers as my first post on the subject may be the cause of the slow speed.
I would think that splitting a line will not help - I would check with BT about that.
No matter what Orange say I would put money on that you are on a fixed 2mb line.

My exchange is Adel, Leeds :
The following services are available in your location:
BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
Bulldog LLU
Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
Orange LLU (Formerly Wanadoo)
NTL Cable
The exchange was swithed probably 12 months ago and since then I have had the same speed.
I too have a higher attainable rate than I can ever get:
I've been on a 2meg connection with Orange for a while and was out of contract. I upgraded to their unlimited package for the speed increase. That was on the 19th Feb and i've still only got 2meg.
When I signed-up I checked on their website and BT and it said 6-8meg.
I phoned Orange today and they've now told me according to their records, I can only get 2meg!! I'm now a bit stuffed as i'm locked into their contract. Ideally i'd like to resolve the speed rather than go through the aggro of trying to get out of the contract (I spoke to Ofcom today).
What it seems to me is that they've not got the correct data for my line or something... My livebox stats read:
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 23.3
Attenuation (dB) : 35.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 6080
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 2272 288
Surely "Attainable download rate" means I can get 6meg (which i'd be more than happy with, compared to my 2.2meg?
What can I do now? Can I send this report to Orange technical support for them to look at? Can I contact BT at all? It seems that Customer Services quote that I can only get 2meg according to their records, so there is nothing more they can do! Very annoying! I'm only 1.4km from the exchange and my neighbour who is on the same telegraph pole who is with BT can get 6meg!
SamKnows reports:
According to BT Wholesale, your line should be able to support a 6Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max.
Any help appreciated! Where can I go from here???!!!
Thanks for the reply - but how come my neighbour who is on the same telegraph pole as me can get 6meg (with BT)?
The adsl checker reported:
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a line rate up to 2Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line should be able to support a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 6Mbps up to 8Mbps.
The actual ADSL Max line rate supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use, after which time the highest stable rate possible will be set.
So what is the "Attainable download rate (kbps) : 6080" actually referring to?
