I decided to get an "anytime" (fixed-fee) internet dial-up service on my BT landline and I didn't want to wait 1-3 weeks for connection.
Unfortunately for me I phoned Wanadoo's sales team, who said that the quickest way for me to get this service would be to connect to wanadoo's "pay as you go" service (using the free-CD) and then upgrade straight away to wanadoo anytime.
I installed the CD and it connected automatically, using some special software program which automaitcally configured my internet connection and dial-up telephone number (premium rate).
Once I had an internet connection I immediately went to the wanadoo website and upgraded to wanadoo anytime, successfully. Wanadoo's website then ran the reconfiguration file, which said it had changed my settings again, OR SO I THOUGHT.
Now I just got my BT phone bill which shows a staggeringly HUGE amount on internet calls from wanandoo.
After being passed from pillar to post, and speaking with RUDE and TOTALLY UNHELPFUL wanadoo customer service staff, they claim that my dial-up number was still on the premium-rate telephone number for wanadoo "pay as you go" and when i upgraded i should have got a wanadoo email!?!?! ....telling me how to change the number from a premium rate.
First of all, I didn't get ANY email from wanadoo stating this.
Secondly, It is totally outrageous and I cannot believe that this is how wanadoo notify their customers of such a change.
And lastly, as wanadoo's software automatically configured my internet connection settings using the "pay as you go" system, surely as i upgraded to their "anytime" package it should have automatically configured the new telephone number. I, the customer should not be informed of such a change via an email that I do not even check!?!
I find this whole argument from wanadoo totally absurd, and am taking this matter further.
However, I would like to know if anyone else has had the same problems as I gather information to build a case against wanandoo and their poorly handled business.
