Does anyone have a definitive answer on why so many people are stuck on 608 Kb/s when on an LLU exchange and a theoretical 8Mb/s package? Has anyone succeeded in getting the mess sorted out and achieving higher speeds?
There seem to be a lot of threads with this problem but have not spotted a definitive answer.
Thanks
Shaun
I asked customer support a simple question so how much is an up to half meg connection a month, the reply was there is no such thing as an up to half meg ,so i said but you have me capped at half a meg, reply no we don't you are on a 2mb line tech support recommend you have that due to the problems with your line, yes says i but i did not have any problems until you put me on the llu so answer me this ? i am synced at 608kbs so the fastest download i can get is half a meg how can i be on up to 2mb which i am paying for and how can i ever possibly download at speeds of up to 2 meg if i am capped at half a meg, then i got put on hold for half hour while they talk to admin, can you hold a bit longer as i am on hold too anyway eventually i was offered to be put on a fixed 2 mb line if i had another 12 month contract.Bearing in mind they had chosen to take me off it earlier that day, like i keep saying i am done with them i am thinking of be,but i also read that for gamers like myself it might be better to go on max or isp stream thingy maybe BT any advice on this because all i need is a good stable gaming connection as i download nothing just the occasional map from my clans servers.
i am getting BT hub tomorrow and my line transfered on weds and i cant wait.
was getting 2500kps off peak (early morning /very late at night) and getting 300kps during peak times
Orange said it was a problem on my line ---(which worked fine off peak)
so i asked if i was on llu which i was -- then i asked for my MAC code --to be told BT dont take llu MAC codes -- the helpful BT man said they do and they have so far apart from an hour last night i have had no down time at all
i been with Orange for 8 years on my mobile and there customer service is excellent , its the old ex Wanadoo / freeserve customer service which is terrible
All in all it smacks off Orange having too many fingers in too many pies and should of stuck to what they knew best
