Can anyone help for the past couple of weeks I've been able to connect however, I am unable to access any other web site other than google. Google search works but when I click to another web site the page either freezes or states it's unable to view the particular site.
I've contacted Orange support many times and checked my IE configuration and speedtouch configuration. The strange thing was that I was until very recently able to send and retrieve e-mail but this too has now failed.
I can ping the following IP address 127.0.0.1 but no other. Orange have now said that some other users were affected but have now sorted this out. Not for me though, this is the second major problem i have had with them.
Elhana,
Thanks for the info.
I am presently working on two Operating systems, Me & W2k. can you please confirm that the following are correct to resolve the MTU & Rwin problem
Help again please on this topic. I was about to utilise Dr TCP when i thought I would give it one more try. As usual a connection was established and two solid green lights on the modem. This time the google web page could not be displayed. There was a footnote on the google page making reference to DNS. Do I have another problem here?
Not to be too perturbed i continued using Dr TCP021 (I have Win Me) when I executed the file the window opened but not quite as I expected. As I am using a speedtouch 330 usb modem I expected to select RAS as outlined in the documentation. There was no where to select this. In addition within the network adaptor box was completely empty! is this correct as I have no network adaptor. Hopes this makes sense, thanks very much for your assistance.
Steve,
Thanks for the response. The problem I am trying to identify is that there is no 'Dial up (RAS) MTU window, when using Win Me. There is a MTU window to the right of the 'Adapter Settings' box. Shall I enter the MTU value in here?
Is it usual not the have any entries within the adapter settings box. I would have expected to have seen 'Dial up (RAS).
Elhana,
Can you help me with the DNS issue I am having? I can't access any web page now or receive/send e-mail. It's worst than ever, if you need any further info please let me know.
Thanks,
The DNS mention is purely a suggestion by internet explorer, usually it's nothing to do with the problem and is just an invalid address, simply that there's no connection available or another problem such as the MTU stuff.
As for how to set it, you're best off following Stevelondon's advice as I've not messed with MTU myself before. If you want to you can use the OpenDNS settings though I'd stick to trying to get webpages back first.
