Hi all,
I have just bought a Evesham Laptop which as a 10/100/1000 LAN Wireless Mini PCI 802.11bg(54Mbps) LAN & Bluetooth Network card installed. I was hoping that I would be able to use this to connect to my Wanadoo Livebox, no such luck. I have been in contact with Evesham & Wanadoo. Evesham asked me to check various things after which they said the laptop was woking correct. Wanadoo said that I could only connect to the Livebox using there wireless adaptor, what a suprise !.
When I try to set up using laptop network card and go into network connections it says no wireless connections in range or words to that effect, can anyone advise me what to do next to get network card to connect.
P.S. I have a desktop PC connected to livebox via wanadoo usb adaptor.

Hi tonyq
Not sure what you have tried so far but, for laptops, you still need to install part of the wanadoo livebox cd...
You need to have the livebox software to configure it...
So, install the wanadoo wirelss disc up to the point where it asks you to connect the adapter. Then exit the cd installation and restart the computer.
With the livebox turned on (!) and after pressing button 1 on the back, press your wireless connection button on the laptop. You should pick up the signal. Then you need to go into the livebox configuration (shortcut on desktop). The first username and password is admin and admin
Then enter the wanadoo username and password as per the instructions.

thank you both for your replies,
I have tried both ways without success.
To admin,
I have tried what you suggested, but I do not seem to get anything coming up no screen to say that I am getting a signal to a wireless connection after restarting , when I try to go into livebox configuration using shortcut, what I get is "Wireless Network Connection is not Connected" wireless network unavailable. So I presume that I need to be connected to go into the livebox configuration. (seems like a case of egg & chicken).
To elhana,
Re: follow this guide.
when I get down to view available wireless netwoks, what I get is,
"No Wireless Networks were found in Range"
so I cannot proceed any further.
it is possible to set up the Live box with out the CD as long as go can get a connection between the the laptop and Livebox using the the (WEP/WPA) key located on the label or plugged in using the wired network connection which would come in handy to view and save or print the instructions above.
Go to my network places and right click Inventel ADSL and click invoke which will bring up a log in screen.
enter admin as the user name and password.
enter your user name and password which should get you connected.

Hi
I have checked a few times and the wireless conection is on, when it is there is a green light that comes on the font of the laptot, is there any way to make sure of this?
Please can you explain what you mean by "If you go my network places on the desktop it should work". This may sound silly but I dont have "my network places" on my desktop
Regards tonyq
it might worth going to http://www.evesham.com to update the driver for the internal wifi adapter.
the only way you find out if the wifi adapter is working or would be to go a wifi hotspot and if the can't connect there it might be a fault with the internal wifi adapter.
what i meant to say was to go to my network places on your desktop pc.
ps depending on how the windows xp is set up the my network places is in the start menu or on the desktop.
Not being able to detect the livebox is a problem, as the desktop is connected wirelessly then it's gotta be something wrong with the laptop's internal wireless. It should easily be able to see the livebox if the other pc can. If you can try getting near to someone else's wireless router or a wireless hotspot. If it can't see that it's gotta be a dodgy adapter.

Hi,
according to Device Manager the network adapter is working O.K.
I don't know anyone with a wireless router or were there is a wireless hotspot near by, but that would be a good test.

Hi All,
I finnally managed to try a different wi-fi spot, and the laptop found it o.k. So my problems seem to be with the livebox side of things.
I have set up the laptop using Wanadoo software, a wannadoo USB wireless adaptor (which I have been using to connect my PC to the livebox)and get a connection o.k.
Any more ideas what I can try to do, to connect my laptop using the internal network card in the laptop?
