I am continuing to suffer POP and SMTP problems with my Orange e-mail account.
When I try and send mail when I am abroad it sometimes will neither send nor receive and I have to fall back on using my secondary (and always working) Gmail account.
Whilst in the UK online on my Orange broadband account, I have to change the SMTP to smtp.orange.co.uk. yet, whilst on my partner’s Virgin Broadband service I have to change my SMTP back to smtp.orange.net.
When I've written to Orange Customer Services numerous times in the past with e-mail problems, their reply is always, “Our engineers are aware of the problem and are working on it.” I never see any improvements after these comments OR improvements. Can anyone throw any light on what is the solution to me having to continually suffer a broken service, or one that I have to keep changing my settings in Outlook…..? I'd be most grateful!
Normally the server you'd use is smtp.orangehome.co.uk. Purely Orange .net or .co.uk would be more for the mobile email system.
Normally as a spam prevention measure you can only send through their servers when connected to their service through broadband or dialup. There may be other rules for the non-orangehome addresses.
I wouldn't expect so, the majority of spam prevention is done purely on the email servers (filters), their connections (use of blacklists, preventing external mail sending) and the ports (the port 25 restriction to only Orange's servers) used to access them.
