Does anyone have an email address for Orange technical support or alternative phone numbers to their 0870 010 2462?
Here's some I have:
0870 190 0667 (I was given this as the MAC support number, but it seems a little quicker than the standard number)
01642 732 785 - from "say no to 0870" - not been able to get it to work yet though.
Orange Customer Action Team - 0113 298 2005
My speed since the 8MB upgrade was 0MB for some time, after many painfull conversations with customer support I'm now on 200-500KB; I can't face phoning them again just yet so if anyone has any good advice that doesn't involve checking I've plugged it in correctly my stats are below!
This is the fastest speed I've had for some time on my new 8MB line! I'm on a speedtouch 330, on a MAC. I have been reading that the problems could be due to the modem being USB. If anyone has any advice on how to speed up my broadband it would be appreciated.
Below is some data from http://www.samknows.com/ if that helps at all. I'm getting 0.5MB, It says I should be getting 3.5MB even though the upgrade was supposed to be to 8MB?

They're not actually very useful as external speed test sites can only give an indication and don't show the sync speed, attenuation and noise margin. There's a way of getting those using an extra program but I'm not certain if there's a MAC version of it. Details of it have been posted before but I can't remember where it was, I'll have to add it to the sticky if I see it again.

USB shouldn't limit the connection until it starts getting to around 4 meg. That is unless you have a lot of USB devices like external hard drive(s), scanner, printer, etc. Also if it's USB 1 or 2 can play a difference too with lots of devices.

Even though it was an upgrade onto the 8 meg system you'd be unlikely to get much higher that the ADSL Max figure as line stats determine this really.
It may be worth checking your internal wiring and from the test socket if you can. Do you know if you get the upgrade email from Orange or if you were being put onto ADSL Max? Max would mention a 10 day training period for the line. You could try running a speedtest through the BT site, that only allows non-LLU lines to run them so can be a good indication.

What did the speedtest show? It should give and upload, download and IP profile, all of which are useful. By the sounds of it you've been upgraded to ADSL Max. Did you change package or request the speed upgrade at all?
