Okay, here's the deal. About a year ago I bought a Netgear router and USB wireless adapter for my laptop from Amazon.co.uk/?tag=orangeprobcou-21&camp=6&creative=6786&linkCode=ur1"> Amazon.co.uk. It worked fine with my then Wanadoo connection at 512kbps. I then decided that it was time to upgrade to 8Mbps when I saw the price was pretty much the same. So I was upgraded to 8Meg. I've also got the original USB Speedtouch modem on my desktop PC that I use if there's any problems with the router. I noticed that when the desktop was connected to the old Speedtouch, I got just under 8Meg, 7.2Meg, perfectly acceptable. However, it was just about 2Meg through the Netgear router which is too slow, so I sent of for the Livebox I was entitled to, thinking that this would give me the 8Meg wireless, like it says it should. However setting up the Livebox has been a nightmare. Firstly, the lights wouldn't stop flashing, so I gave up and went back to the Netgear for a bit. Tried again, and the lights went solid, and I connected my laptop via ethernet, and got 8Meg. Then I tried connecting wirelessly, first through the set-up CD [shiver] which failed miserably, and then through Windows that got as far as attempting to connect and then rapidly switched between being connected and finding certain settings. I don't recall exacty what it said, it was a while ago. So I once again went back to the Netgear. Today I haven't been busy so I pulled out my old friend and gave it another try, and much to my dismay, I have the original problem once more, the bloody @ light keeps flashing. Obviously I can't begin to fix the wireless without an actual connection and speaking to Orange about it is as hopeless as a chocolate fireguard. On their site it says that they're experiencing problems in the Liverpool area, near me, so that could be affecting me. Any ideas on when this will be fixed, or on what to do once I've got a connection in terms of the wireless. Thanks, Sam.
