Hi guys im new here, I registered because ever since I have upgraded to 2Mb from the old freeserve connection I have been experiencing lots of problems disconnecting (3 or 4 times a day) Now this was never a problem before with freeserve where i would hardly ever get disconnected.
I have contacted wanadoo a few times now and they have done all the line checks with BT and theres nothing wrong there, I've also checked the drivers for the modem (acatel "stingray" Speedtouch) but still this problem persists. I would be really grateful for any help you can give me because its driving me round the bend.
I would recommend plugging in the modem into the filter into the BT master socket and using a longer RJ11 cable.
If you go to computer shop just ask for a (ADSL/RJ11) extenson cable.
Its not the best setup but it is a known issue for a extenson socket to fail a adsl line test when the master normally passes when a BT enginer does the test at the home.
I have edited the the post as the diagram got messed up after posting the message.

Are you running the modem on an extension cable or is it plugged into the master socket? If a line upgrade has been performed, an extension that previously worked may now cause disconnections if it isn't capable of transmitting the stronger signal to the modem.
Plug the modem directly into the master socket and disconnect any other non-ADSL equipment fromt the line. You will now be receiving the strongest possible broadband signal from your socket without any inteference. If it works you need a stronger broadband RJ11 cable. If not it's a line / exchange problem.
If the extenson socket is hardwired into the BT master socket then make sure that there a microfilter plugged into both.
If this fixs the problem a longer RJ11 cable would not be need.
If there are no cables that are hardwired into the BT master socket the best bet would be to plug a microfilter directy into the BT master socket plug the telephone adapters into the filterd output and use a longer RJ11 cable.
