Been a Wanadoo/Orange customer for around 2 years. Experienced few problems. Around a month ago my Internet Explorer pages stopped loading up, the PC i have is around 6 or 7 years old so thought it was a virus and put my computer in to be fixed at a nearby shop. They re-installed windows and added some other things and I paid £60 for the work yet when I got it back the same problem occurred:
I could connect to Orange broadband ( minor disconnections but nothing too bad) but Internet Explorer pages just do not load up apart from the odd one or two. I phoned up the computing shop asking why had this problem not fixed but they asked who my broadband provider was and when I told them Orange they said they had 30 or 40 similar complaints. I've recently had a technician out who told me to scan for viruses but nothing was found. I phoned Orange only to speak to a girl who did nothing but take me through Internet options trying to fix a problem which was not there and told me the problem was not with Orange.
I am almost certain this is an Orange problem but im worried if i sign up to another broadband company ill have the same problems and be tied down to a contract for a year costing over £100. Anyone else have any similar problems ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx

First of all what modem or router are you using. Secondly what lights are on the modem/router and what are the states (ie on, off, flashing, etc)
If all seems ok with modem/router can you ping 192.168.1.1 and what do you get. If you get some sort of error message try 127.0.0.1 and what do you get.
The modem is Speedtouch330, is this outdated?
Everything is fine with the modem, the green lights are on at all times so in Orange's eyes that means its a problem with my PC but I've had an engineer to look at it and know its fine.
Sorry but what does ping mean and how could this help?
I have already tried downloading Firefox and the same problem exists. Don't know if links open via e-mail as I can't get onto hotmail.
Thinking of just changing broadband connection to Tiscali or BT, fed up of this, it must be Orange as there is nothing wrong with my computer. The only other thing the engineer said it could be is that the PC runs Windows ME and not XP but that was never a problem in the past so I don't see why it should be now.
