It's my first post here and I hope it's in the correct place
I have been asked by a friend to help with her new Vista laptop. She can't get it to connect to her Orange account. Before I go round, I want to get some more information if possible. Her account is some sort of ancient wanadoo account sorting £17.99 and she no has knowledge of what this is supposed to include. She has a speedtouch 330 modem.
Windows Vista:
Upgrading XP to Vista: your existing driver will continue to operate normally.
Installing on a new Vista computer: When using the standard 3.01 driver it is not possible to perform an uninstall. A vista specific driver will be available in March 2007.
What does it mean by uninstall? Is this referring to any changes it may make to the modem frimware?

Shouldn't be anything to do with firmware, I don't believe 330's have firmware that can be upgraded in that way.
It probably just refers to the software itself not being able to be removed for some reason.
The only services currently available to Vista users are to be connected to a Livebox via a cable and not using wireless.
Well that's apparently not quite right as there is an article on how to get it running on Vista. If you go to their help pages and search for "kb15284" that should give the process for doing it. Just follow it and hopefully that'll get things working.
Thanks for that. Interestingly the article only applies to 32 bit versions of Vista not 64. I don't know yet whether the laptop in question is 32 or 64.
Cheers for the link above to the knowledge base, that was a great help. It's sorted, I've just got back from doing it, it was also my first experience of using Vista, it seemed to be slow at times.
The most useful part of the instructions was this
Please note: if you don't receive a 'Your devices are ready to use' alert, and instead get the 'Found New Hardware' prompt, don't worry. We've found it sometimes takes a couple of attempts to fully install the software. Simply repeat the above process, following the above steps.
