Having just signed up for Orange Broadband and having troulbles just connecting I'm disappointed to read the catalogue of problems Orange customers are having!!
Anyway, tying to connect this grey plastic triangular box to my Windows 2000 I keep getting the error message that tells me to turn of the Firewall. Can anyone adise how this is done. Please. I thank-you in anticipation.

How are you trying to connect it? Wireless adapter, if so what one, or ethernet?
If it's ethernet then just connect all the cables up,
Browse to 192.168.1.1,
Click the link default username and password when asked are both "admin",
Go into Services > Internet,
Enter your Orange supplied username and password into the boxes,
Submit and the @ light should go solid and the page return connected if all is well and you're done.

Thankyou for the quick response.
Whilst I have a Livebox and installation CD the system kept stalling. I finally found the Hardware connection file in the Control Panel and turned on the ethernet connection. Why this was off I don't know. Anyway its now done.
Thanks.

BLIMEY!!! you mean you actually have a WORKING connection?
Can i suggest you take a screenshot of it and save it for prosperity and also do a speed test cos this has to be a first !!
Someone on Orange with a WORKING connection?....your having a laugh.
Maybe they made a mistake and gave you the connection in error cos they dont appear to be able to give this "novelty" to thousands of other people...me being one of them.
and yes ,you sense a hint of frustration because as they couldnt provide me with a working connection i HAD to cancel and go elsewhere even though id been with Freeserve and Wanadoo for a number of years without any problems until Orange took over and decided to "upgrade" my exchange (something i never even asked for incidentally)...They are also trying to charge me for the fact they couldnt solve the problems or provide the service i was paying for so BEWARE... if you lose your connection and want out then make sure you have a BIG bank balance cos it seems its the only way you can get away from this outfit without penalty.
DISGUSTING SERVICE
Its about time someone took this lot to task about all of these problems. Maybe we should all write to BBC Watchdog, ISPA and Trading Standards
