I’m probably covering familiar territory here but I have experienced extensive connection problems since I was given the “free” upgrade in January.
Generally I am able to connect in the morning and early afternoon, but as the day continues my connection repeatedly drops to the point where I often cannot connect at all in the evening.
When the connection drops I get one of the following four error codes or indeed a combination of them when I try and re-connect:
· 619 The specified port is not connected
· 680 There was no dial tone
· 721 The remote computer is not responding
· 734 The PPP link control protocol was terminated
Given that I have fault free connections in the morning and afternoon I doubt if the problem is with my PC or connections.
If anyone is able to offer any advice I would be most grateful.
These problems are down to Orange and their sub-standard equipment being unable to handle the amount of traffic necessary to provide us, the paying public, with a decent reliable connection.
In short, these problems are going to keep happening until Orange get the finger out and upgrade the equipment in our exchanges. Though the chances of that happening anytime soon are extremely remote.
