After several long calls to Orange technical support, I finally got my Livebox working fine - for the first 24 hours. I had to call support again to get them to reset my Outlook Express ( I wasn't receiving emails) and since then, I can only get an internet connection by unplugging the Livebox for a few seconds, then plugging it back in. This is a minor inconvenience, but obviously something isn't right. I don't really fancy another evening on the phone to India, so wondered if anyone out there had the same problem, or any suggestions on what I might do.
The free phone line is working well - Orange did act quickly to activate it during one of my long conversations with Customer Support, so I suppose I should be grateful for that, at least!!!!!!!!!!
When it's off, broadband that is, what is the @ light doing? Ideally it should be on constant.
If you're on a wired ethernet connection does unplugging the ethernet cable so the PC see's the connection has gone and reconnecting it have the same result? If wireless how about disconnecting and reconnecting again?

Thanks for your reply. The @ light is on constantly, even when the connection isn't working. I haven't dared to unplug the ethernet cable in case I lose the internet altogether (I'm a bit of a wimp, technologically speaking!) I would say I have to unplug and reconnect the power about 3 times out of 4 to make the livebox work. It's very strange... I had no bother whatsoever with my Wanadoo Speedtouch Connection.
My 3 sons will be home from university soon with their 3 laptops, all expecting to be able to surf the net wirelessly now I've got a Livebox. Is it as easy as switching their laptops on, logging in to my Orange account and off they go?
Or am I going to be on the Helpline again for hours getting their laptops connected wirelessly? any advice on this would also be gratefully received! Thanks

Just try unplugging the cable from the side of the livebox, in effect you're doing the same thing by turning it off as the computer will see it as there's no cable at that stage. This can help give an indication where the problem is.

Not quite but the basic process is as follows...
Go into the laptop's wireless system (prefrably windows),
Look for your livebox in it's list name's on the stick underneath it,
Select it and click connect and it'll ask for the key,
Enter the key from the sticker remembering no spaces uppercase letters A-F and numbers only,
Press the "1" button on the livebox so the antenna light is flashing,
Ok the key box and it "should" connect.
If it doesn't the sticky thread in this forum should help with this or you can call Orange who should be able to talk you through the problem and sort this out.
