A friend is having real problems connecting through to the Barclays banking website (personal and business too). You can get to the front page - http://www.barclays.co.uk - but trying to login to the secure banking site - https://ibank.barclays.co.uk/ just hangs, not even timing out after 5 minutes. Trying on the same PC through a BT Broadband connection works just fine. Is this an Orange problem or something to do with Barclays? I suspect Orange myself, having ruled out just about everything else.
Thanks
Pete
Edit
Sorry to be vague, but I was hoping someone would be able to try to load the page located at the second URL. I'm not trying to phish although I realise that it could look like that. If you prefer, load the barclays.co uk main page manually, then click on login. Another window should appear - hopefully containing a login page. This is what I never to get to see on the Orange connection. I suspect something in the route to barclays from Orange when using SSL is going pear-shaped, but other SSL-enabled sites work fine. Very strange.

Seems to work just fine for me.
Give me your bank details and i'll try further as i dont bank with barclays (joking)
Thanks for the feedback. I put my thinking cap on properly and got to the bottom of it. Turns out it's not a problem with Orange, but with the Belkin wireless router they're using. I messed about with the figures for the MTU value on the router and windows (using the 'Dr TCP' utility from http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp). The default on the Belkin when it gets reset to factory settings is 1430 which is wrong. Changing to 1492 on both the router and Windows XP solved the problem with secure sites. It wasn't just Barclays, either. More importantly, Sainsburys online shopping was broken, so the poor woman had to go to Tesco!!

Good idea. Account number is 300423434...... (as if)
Again, many thanks for testing. Prompted me to look elsewhere.
