Once I cleared up what they actually meant by free calls to Orange (free calls to Orange mobiles, not free calls to Orange 0870 numbers), I was told that I had to register on the member centre web page. However there were no links on the web page to take me to registration! After another couple of emails to support low and behold a 'check availability' button appeared!
However, try as I may, for days, I put my account number in and submit but it always comes back saying ' Sorry! Due to heavy traffic we are unable to process your request. Please try again in a few minutes. Click 'continue' to try again'. There is an error listed as: code: 42diik4v, fs code : 101
log : 7p3geup.
Anyone else got this issue?
Well after weeks I finally got to speak to a tech at Orange and he suggested that my problem was a hang over from the old wanadoo days i.e. my address was fsnet. He said the only way to fix it was to cancel the service and reinstate, all of which he did for me live (well over about 30mins). Great, I was now registered for free calls to Orange.
But - the following week I got an email saying they were sorry I was leaving - ok, ignore that. Then I get a packet in the post with a new Speedtouch 330 modem and a pouch to return my Livebox! ok, ignore that too thinks I.
This week my talk service gave "sorry, the service you requested is not available" when ever I tried to phone out. The phone light was on and I had the 5 pips and a tone on dial tone. Thinks, I'll reset the livebox and see if that clears it. Sure enough, now the phone light on the livebox is off!
Send email to suppurt and, fair play, get an email next morning saying "take advantage of the talk service via Livebox".
But my member centre does not look right and my speed is down. Call support - she says I'm on broadband starter! No says I, I'm on unlimited! Well says she, I'll escalate to the off-line team --- Anyone thinks this line sound familliar! Dum dee dum dee dum....
...and that's partly why accounts aren't closed and reopened normally. Even if you'd been put onto unlimited the livebox talk service would have stopped working as the account it had been associated with was now closed and you'd be getting a new livebox for the new account.
