I phoned up Orange to enquire about cancelling my account, they told me you have to give one months notice! Is this true or was I being lied to? I've been with them for a bad part of 5 years.All I want to do is get the marker off my line and get as far away from them as possible.

True. Follows is relevant clause from T & C's.

17.2.5 subject to paragraphs 17.1 and 17.3 for each of the Agreements by you giving us 30 days' notice.

17.1 refers to Orange giving you notice and 17.3 refers to the penalties you have to pay if you terminate a fixed period contract early.
