So we got a Livebox last year and with much faffing around connected it fine. However not long after christmas my dear father decided to buy himself a laptop and configure the internet connection for it rather than the 3000 pound computer im sitting on right now. Dont ask.
of course Orange wont let you connect to the livebox without buyin a speedtouch adaptor will they?
No of course not. Its Orange.
Ive turned off the firewall, installed the software, the green light is on, battened down the hatches and hoisted the main anchor. However after I put my livebox in pairing mode it just wont connect and I dont understand why.
Upon review of what it says the problems could be it shows my WEP key may be wrong and displays what I have input. For some reason it only displays 25 letters of it everytime, even though I know Ive put in all 26, especially since Ive now tried 7 times.
Any help would be much appreciated before I beat my father to death with his own laptop and set fire to this computer.

Actually they will, almost any current wireless adapter should be able to connect, maybe except any of the pre-N stuff. They'll even help trying to get connected if you set it to use the windows wireless zero system. It's just they can provide a lot more help for the speedtouch adapter and replace it if you bought it direct.

I expect you're using the install cd, don't bother anymore once you've gone through and got the error.
Firstly connect the PC up using ethernet if possible (doesn't need the phone connection for this if the PC isn't close enough),
Browse to 192.168.1.1,
Click the link and enter the username and password (default "admin"),
Go into Security and then Wireless Connection,
Double click the WEP key to highlight and then right click and copy it.
Run the Speedtouch 121g program
Ideally you should get the icon in the corner with grey bars and a red cross.
Double click to open it up,
Go to the site survey tab,
Find your livebox and double click it,
Make sure security is set to WPA-PSK in the dropdown and paste the key into the box,
Click Apply Changes and hopefully it'll connect up.
