I stumbled on this website ( and so glad i did !! )
I,m thinking of taking the offer up with Orange for the £30 per month mobile with the "free" broadband .
I,m with BT and have been for the past 8 yrs With NO probs at all .
I get a good speed 8 meg ish as the exchange is down the road .. But when i go on the Orange site and put my land line number in .. it offers me speeds up to 2 meg ??? . I have been doing a bit of reading and is it something to do with that my exchange is not LLU enabled for wanadoo ??
As spoke to Orange tech people and one says yes your line will be at the same speed as it is now .. and the other says no you will only get 2 meg MAX !
Also if i signed up for the 18 months contract for the mobile ...does that inc that i have to stay with Orange for the broadband for the 18 months .. or is that just for the mobile contract ??
Sorry for asking these questons but i have been told all diffrent things today and dont know who to believe
I was going to go for the £40 package ( £30 mobile bill and £10 for uncapped connection ? )
Unlimited broadband with free landline calls and Orange mobiles 24 / 7 over VoIP ??
As you can see my heads up my arse atm with all this as been told one thing then told another
The Orange line checker is right in this case most likely.
You're currently on ADSL Max so changing will see your speed reduced to 2 meg as they don't do ADSL Max yet. You're probably better off waiting for Orange to use ADSL Max before switching as that would cause the least hastle, there are no dates on when they plan to provide it though.

Ok thanks for that ...
Do you know about the contract time ?? is it 18 months for the braodband too?? or just the mobile ??
If you want Orange BB, you can make your own at home;
Subscribe to any ISP; make sure they overcharge you; have your connection put down to half the speed your were promised; switch your modem on and off thirty to forty times a night to ensure any enjoyment of the net is totally removed; call abroad at 50p a minute and talk to folks about being "comfortable" with your problems; Insist on being messed around until your scream out loud when you call to cancel; have direct debits taken from your account at odd intervals (especially after you've cancelled)
Congrats! You now have Orange BB with all the benefits

I really hate to put a spanner in the works but I have just got a new 18 month phone contract and free braodband.
Unfortunatlely things are not always what they seem..........Bearing in mind this started at the end of June and I've not yet got my bradband services sorted by Orange.
1st of all they cancelled the original order off their own back as I was not told I needed a MAC code when I got my new phone, nobody contacted me to let me know this or ask for a code, I waited nearly a month before ring to ask where my livebox was to be told that the account didn't exist and I needed a MAC code. Got the MAC code rang Orange again to be told that I had come through to the registration dept but the girl couldn't do it and I had to ring a different number (is it me or does that sound backwards) Finally after 3 calls got someone to put my order for free broadband in which when a livebox arrived a few days later I thought was going to work out fine....until.............I get a statement showing Orange are charging me £17.99 for FREE broad band and will direct debit my account.....oh no they won't! Technically this constitutes a breach of contract by Orange. So... on the phone to customer services yet again. Explained the situation, and was told to go online to the members page and change it myself...why should I have to do this when Orange got it wrong?
When I could not do this as the site didn't let me the bloke said "I don't belive you" after getting over the shock of how rude this bloke was being I explained, I'm sat at my computer now and can't do it.
He basically said I must be doing it wrong and I obviously didn't know what I was talking about.
I asked o speak to a manager or supervisor and was told there was no point as they'd say the same thing, (somehow I don't think his superviser would call me a liar). I asked to be put through to a supervisor 3 times, each time being denied. Eventually he put me through to a girl who just said..."I believe you should be on Free broadband, I'll refund the charges and change this...good bye"
I have no idea if she ever did this and was so furious at the way I'd been treated that I immediatly wrote a 3 page letter of complaint demanding written confirmation of my FREE broadband and if Orange take any money from me for FREE services I shall seek legal advice.
My advice, find another ISP!! Stay well clear of Orange and your future will be brighter.
