Iam having trouble with Speed BT am still communicating with Orange about that. But can anyone tell me why my livebox wont work in a proper BT extension (Dlink router does) but it will work in an extension run from the main box. Phone wont work in same extension as livebox but will work in BT extension.BT are no help and Orange are still no help getting my speed above 380kbps my livebox shows I am on 512 when I am supposed to be on 8 meg
I only live 1 mile from exchange
how do you get the info about noise

Could be just an odd setup causing it, or maybe the dlink can pickup a slightly weaker signal, there's a dodgy filter or just the BT extension wiring isn't all that great.
Could you paste your stats from the livebox, go to 192.168.1.1, log in through the link, go to the system info page and paste in the noise margin, attenuation, attainable along with upstream and downstream speeds. That should give a lot more info about the speed and connection.
Found out that BT extension was wired pins 2 and 3 with cables wrong way round for live box making the voltage in it plus instead of minus Dont know why this works but it has .changed channel in wireless now that works too only got speed to sort now
thanks for your help

can you tell me if these are any good its all new to meNoise margin (dB) : 31.1
Attenuation (dB) : 26.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 8672
ADSL status : Connected [0]

Extension should have had wires in pins 2, 5 and 3. Pins 2 & 5 are required. Wire to pin 3 can be removed.

You do not say whether Noise Margin/attenuation are upstream or downstream. Assuming they are downstream then something appears not right with your connection. Do the following. Open IE type in 192.168.1.1/testinfo.html and enter. Copy and past all info from the line where it says ADSL_VERSION=A2pBT009c1.d17d (do not copy any info prior to this line). This may give a better picture of whats happening. The other thing is have you tried livebox at master with all extension wiring disconnected. Remove bottom plate on master which should remove all extensions. Behind this plate is test socket. Plug livebox directly into this and run same tests again. It would also help in you went to www.speedtester.BT.com and ran a speed test. This will give amongst other thing what your IP Profile is.
Sorry it took so long been away
ive tried everything we have been trying to get better speed for twelve months now
dont have one of the newer sockets. I have been on to customer services all week costs a fortune in calls get as far as them saying they will order a line test but cant put it through yet because system is down.I am now waiting for them to get back to me I only went for livebox because I couldnt get support on dlink router.
BT speedtest reported 422 kilo bits per second
At my wits end now

You are not alone in trying to get a positive response or fix to your problem. Log a complaint with ISPA at www.ispa.org.uk. Explain fully what your complaint is and despite what Orange tell you when they get passed the complaint log another with ISPA every 7 days until you get your problem resolved. I doubt if you will get a response from Ofcom.
Have sent a complaint to http://www.ispa.org.uk
they are getting in touch with Isp. In the meantime Orange has phoned and said the line test was ok (thats a laugh).and offered me a seedtouch modem to try.I told them we have been here before Tried modems And2 eouters all give same results .Have asked them to contact BT because BT wont talk to me about line.
All I can hope is http://www.ispa.org.uk./can get better results otherwise I will try the Citizens advice. Thanks for all help its appreciated .
maybe Orange should use this site for customer service
Will let you know if I have any results
