I went to Orange broadband before Xmas last year and i have STILL not yet been activated! I was initially told that i be able to use the internet on 05.01.07, then on 11.01.07 nad then on 17.01.07. to this date, i am not yet connected!! i have telephoend the customer services and tech dept several times, but to no use at all! plus, the calls are charged at 50p per minute!!!
I cannot work without internet. what can i do to get connected ASAP?
I may have picked you up wrong but are you saying you were new to joining Orange as a new customer in December. If this is the case then you should be able to cancel and look for an ISP that will provide you in a more timely manner. In doing this a problem may arise if Orange have already made line active but not provided you with the equipment. If you go to www.BT.com you should be able to input your telephone number and get some indication on your line status.

Well it's hard to know exactly whats going on with that without more details. Best case, it's just an unexpected delay in activation, wosrt case there's capacity issues in your area and you're in a queue.
As tvman said you could check with BT and see what they say, as you're calling the 50p number you'll be on Starter so can cancel within 30 days of activation if you want, before it's activated you can cancel as you like too.
You could try calling customer support instead, national rate, and asking they check your provision status with Specialist Provisions. However if it turns out to be a capacity issue then apart from LLU providers in the area you'd probably be in the same boat whichever ISP you choose, possibly worse as you'd be at the back of the queue again, depends if thats the case though.
