Sat 20 Jan 07 I received an interesting tel call from Orange Tech Support individual to check if my ongoing speed complaint had been resolved.
He agreed the apparent line fault was 'probably exchange related' and had been 'sorted' by limiting my speed, though he denied I had been capped at 3Mb. Apparently mid Sept 06 the requested up to 8Mb had been rejected and a 5Mb limit had been set on 4 Oct, the day when my speed increased from 1 to ~5Mb. Subsequent complaints about random disconnects led to a 2Mb cap, then 3Mb after further complaint about speed restrictions
Unlike MaxDSL which automatically sets optimum speed after 10 days monitoring, LLU is a speed capped service with NO 10 day monitoring
We will see when other LLU ISPs are avail on my exchange
Until then my complaint remains 'live' until I can assess an unrestricted service 'upto 8Mb' and accept a cap based on best reliable speed
My choice, not Orange, based on BT / Orange correction of line fault
With a speed capped service any improvements I can make after the master tel socket will not improve my connection speed
8Mb may not be possible but I want the best available with advice on how it can be improved

Since being changed from Max with speeds around 6 - to LLU have not got above 2.7. Is there a cap?

When i was on Wanadoo/Orange LLU my speeds also never went above 3.0 at the most when i questioned this continually Orange wasn't in the slightest bit interested one of the reasons i jumped ship last july since then i constantly get 6.5 ish
