<Livebox Issues? ~ Problem with the inventel adapter and livebox

Hello i am wandering if anybody out there is having a problem with the inventel adapter and livebox i am constantly having to reboot my pc to get a connection as it keeps coming up with acquiring network address its doing my head in.
Also the speed of the connection when i do connect changes constantantly from 1mps upto 54mps.
Also how can i tell what meg i am at on Windows Xp .Wanadoo say i have 8 meg but is there anything i can look at to tell if i am.
And one final question is i have had a livebox for 6 months and i have asked Wanadoo for a speedtouch modem as i dont really need wireless but they say because i am apparently on 8 meg a speedtouch modem wont work is this true? They claim they only work upto 6meg.
yeah I gave up with my iveltel adaptor and got a decent belink usb one instead. I had the same problem with disconnects and not getting an ip (I balme bad drivers)
Sometimes a thing called Network Gateway appears in my network connections control panel which allows me to see the connected speed and bandwith of the livebox. It has dissapeard just now tho
You can always check your speed through the livebox configuration pages (192.168.1.1) - look for the system information page
