Ever since Wanadoo became Orange my (broadband) has slowed right down it is as bad as dialup some days.
Also even although I have any spam automaticaly binned I am still getting loads of crap emails every day Usually v**g*a time you sorted out your anti spam filters.The anti spam service used to work so good i went from 500 a week to about 5.
Time to move to another ISP And i was one of the first few hundered on Freeserve.
But what i am reading on the web I will be one of many moving elsewhere.
Although I ended up with a lot of SPAM emails under the Wanadoo brand these were all filtered off into the Junk Mail folder so I never needed to see them. However, under the Orange brand I am getting a ridiculous number filtering through to MS Entourage in the pop download. It doesn't make much sense as to why since all that was meant to happen was a rebrand - still the same company!
I've also often wondered if marking emails as SPAM in the inbox actually helps the filters? In addition I can't block more than 100 email addresses in the blocked list which is a bit annoying!
I get spam every day and its always the same. Dispite blocking it still gets throught and i have children using the internet and some of it in rude and not for children. I think Orange are to blaim as i only started to recive it after Orange took over.
In my experience, most spammers get email addresses from dodgy websites you may have registered with. I don't just mean **** sites either, ANY site you have to give an email address to for registering is a possible source for spammers. The best way around it is to have another email address, one of the many free ones eg. Hotmail, Yahoo, Freeserve etc, and use that solely for registrations and your main (ISP provided) addresses for friends and family ONLY. It works for me.
It is also a good idea to report all spam to your ISP and to the originating ISP so that they block spam at source. For instance, I get a lot of spam from hotmail.com and yahoo.com arriving in my yahoo email, so I report it to Yahoo and MSN(hotmail)
