I notice I can get access to this on the livebox http://configuration.adsl/srv_...tv.html
Do Orange have any plans to anyones knowledge to allow this service or has it been forogtten for the time being?
AFAIK there are plans to use it, it's currently working in france, but you need a high speed connection for it. At least 6 meg I read but it's probably more for when ADSL 2+ comes out.

There's always talk of stuff like that. Just remember any use of ADSL 2+ for at least 2 years, probably more, will pretty much be on LLU only. Also the livebox cannot support ADSL 2+ so you'll only see that when they come out with version 2 or pick a new router.
From what I was told the livebox itself can't go over 14 meg. Probably better they sort out the LLU system first so it's more stable and able to support 8 meg before they start going for 2+ at upto 24 meg.
Maybe you could ask your sources how it gets to 14Mbps if it can't support ADSL2+
Well ADSL Max can go faster than 8 meg, upto around 12 meg theroetically I believe. I'm sure you've seen several livebox attainable speeds of over 10meg on here, assuming that would be higher if was actually in the exchange with a short cable, some overheads etc then 14 meg sounds just about right for a limititation to build into the hardware.
That and it was probably cheaper not to make it 2+ compatible for 24 meg speeds, inventel most likely want Orange to buy a newer more expensive box for when ADSL 2+ comes out.
But if you can supply any links to support this statement:

I'd be interested to see them.
Ok how's this? It's the basic livebox but in the default inventel package, BT were using this exact box for their home hub at one point before they plumped for what looks like a newer version. Looks like I was told a touch exagerated figure of 14 meg but it's close enough and I expect they do limit the connection and hardware slightly in order to run stabley.
As for the version A2pBT, it could equally stand for ADSL 2 & Printer USB port & Bluetooth.
looks like the livebox supports ADSL 2 which does upto 12 meg(not plus).
Yeah, it's quite possible that it supports ADSL2 and not ADSL2+. I haven't seen any reliable evidence for this though. That's the problem (at least for those of us who take an interest in these things) with locked ISP-supplied routers. It's not easy to find out anything about them. Plus a lot of the info on the web is in French. I was hoping that since you'd made such an unambiguous statement about the lack of support for ADSL2+, you might have some solid info.

Problem is I can't really say much about where I got the info from except I don't doubt it as such.

Don't know if you've seen this before, but this is the chip in my Livebox:
Well I don't have a livebox myself so never had the option to take one apart, not that I'd bother to lookup the actual chips myself.
Maybe it can do ADSL 2+ or maybe there's something else in the hardware, say processing speed, for the rest of the system that prevents it from handling 24meg?
BTW you ought to understand part of the background for the livebox. Apparently when it was introduced some poorly translated info and articles about it were sent over from france along with a note saying to use it, least thats what it sounded like. The USB recovery system for instance has always been there and had software but nobody knew about it until the Firmware team popped up earlier in the year.
