wanadoo say if you only go a little over and don't do it every month then they won't bother (more hassle than its worth I presume)
it's about.. .5 of a gig tolerance I think, and it's mesured over a period of time.. if you constantly are seen to "Abuse" your limits, you will get snagged, if you accidently cross your limit the odd occasion, it's forgiven.
Don't take this as an excuse to "test the limits", the tolerance is a guess at best.

They're fairly lax about the capping. It usually is averaged out over 2 or 3 months then they send out a letter, if you're over the next month then they take action, usually 30 day notice of moving you to a different package or in the worst cases termination of the contract. Could be changed though.
When I had a 2Gb limit they slowed my speed to that of dial up when I was only 0.02Gb over the limit (tested on a download speed test site). Also another option appeared in the connection box and that was the only one that worked until the next payment was due. Maybe they have relaxed it a bit now I don't know.
