What a stressful day!
To cut a long story short, Sent Orange a change of account member details with myself as a 3rd party member, so that my wife with the new Orange mobile account was the Broadband account holder.
Orange don't tell you this when you sign up for the mobile/BB offer. I wanted to be a 3rd party member so that I could have the joy of speaking to CS rather than my wife having a breakdown.
Anyway, rang today to ensure that I would now be on the £5 tariff (origanlly £18 since March) but they had no record of my 3rd party request and that the account holder would have to ring up and add a 3rd party member over the phone. After arguing with 3 people at Orange about how crazy the situation was I got a girl to pretend to be my wife.
Was told that I was being LLU unbundled on 24Nov, completed on 29Nov tested speeds over 10 days and averaged at 2.7mbps. Contacted CS many times and they said that wait until the 10 day period and they will do a line test.
All my noise margin, atten, Orange website indicate I should get 6 to 7 mbps. The router has been syncing at aroung 6500mpbs for the whole period.
After finally enabling the £5 offer they are now saying that the line speed is out of their control and that it's an IPstream MAX controlled by BT at about 2.3 mbps, and also that the new unlimited package should now enable the 6mbps speed. I thought the unlimited bit was for how much you could download.
They are now saying wait another 10 days which I'm not too happy about.
In hindsight I should have gone with NTL and got the Virgin mobile deal for less money.

Ok that does suggest a problem somewhere if it won't go over 3 meg when sync'd at 6.5meg.

Ok thats where things are starting to get conflicted. You cannot be on ADSL Max and LLU at the same time, it's either one or the other.
LLU is through Orange's equipment as from all I know there is no 10 day period with that, it's just supposed to rate adapt to the line to give the best speed.
ADSL Max does have a 10 day initial period where it sets the speeds that beneath which would be classed as a fault.
In this case sync'd at 6.5meg means that unless you're on a lower account type and on LLU you should be getting the higher speeds.
You need to know for sure if it's LLU or ADSL Max and if Max has the fault threshold rate been set.
