Hello folks, I'm new to the forum and been an Orange/Wanadoo broadband user for 18 months...
I was on the 1Mb Wanadoo line, and my connection information on the computer said it was 1.1. Then I asked Orange to upgrade me to 2Mb, and the connection info now says 3.6Mb. I've recently applied for the Livebox/Voip package, so maybe the 2Mb connection is really the 8Mb one in disguise, even though the livebox hasn't arrived yet. My local exchange (Farnworth, Lancs) apparently can handle upto 2.5Mbs, and adsl guides and speed testing sites say that my speed is nearer to 512Kbs. Oh, and I keep having to redial when there's been no activity for about 20 minutes.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going on?
Thanks.
If you're using the Speedtouch modem then the 20 minutes bit sounds like windows has auto disconnect setup.
Control panel > Internet Options > Connections > highlight the connection and click settings > Advanced > untick the disconnect options.
It may be when you upgraded you were put on either LLU or ADSL Max which would account for the 3.6 meg sync speed. Has it been over 10 days since the upgrade? Also try running a speedtest through...

That should provide a good indication of the speed and if it's ADSL Max give the data profile too.
Otherwise I'd say wait for the livebox and see if that makes any difference.
