Is anyone connected to the Hulme Hall exchange (Cheadle Hulme area) achieving more than 608Kb/sec download speed?
According to samknows, orange haven't implemented llu on this exchange yet but some time ago I am sure that the Wanadoo website showed that llu had taken place. If it isn't llu what is the max download speed I can expect on the 8Mb service?
Whenever I try downloading anything the initial download rate peaks at up to 98 KB/sec then drops back rapidly to 57KB/sec, anyone any ideas why?
Same with both Livebox and Linksys modem/router.
Thanks
Shaun
Samknows isn't always reliable on LLU info - not the fault of the webmaster, he can only go by what the ISPs tell him. It doesn't have any info on AOL LLU and the Wanadoo/Orange info often seemed out of date.
I think you're on LLU. There have been several other posters on here stuck at 608kbps DS synch on LLU lines - see posts by case_sensitiveuk, Chris0, curlydave, smugla, lmsava and Paulgo. Some of these, like yourself, have large noise margins. The stats you posted earlier:
Quote:
DSL Path Mode: FAST
Downstream Rate: 608 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 288 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 31 db
Upstream Margin: 31 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 20
Upstream Line Attenuation: 11
suggest your line is capable of synch'ing at the full 8Mbps.
I don't think it's an exchange wide problem, snow_2004 is on the same exchange as curlydave and doesn't have this issue.
All you can do, if you're still in contract, is contact Orange and hope you get someone who understands.
