I live in a village in kent, and i know that my exchange isnt LLU enable for any provider at the moment, but ADSL Max is, and Orange told me a few months ago that i would get ADSL Max if they couldnt get LLU to me within a few months, and everytime i have been online to My Account and selected change speed it has always said "our test indicates you are on the highest speed your line can support" but i have been on this evening and it ses that i can get 8 meg and that i am currently on 2 meg, and i can upgrade for free, so ive confirmed that
But what i want to know is is there system correct? or am i getting ADSL Max, as im certain that my exchange is defeanately not LLU Enabled, so have they started rolling out ADSL Max services to people that cant get LLU?
Im very happy if they can give me 8 Meg, but it doesnt seem real!
Thanks for the reply, i just find it very strange, as i wasnt automatically upgraded to it, i had to go into my account to upgrade?! i went over to 2 meg about 3 months ago, and they told me then that i would get 8 meg when available.
I will reserve judgement about whether i can get it until i actually see the speed im attaining!
Thanks for the reply, i have submittd the upgrade online yesterday, and havent recieved any confirmation email as yet, online it ses that it is being processed, but i wont believe it till i see it!!
Has anyone else on this forum been put onto ADSL Max? because they cant get LLU? because if they do it for me then that means i will be on ADSL Max?
People have been upgraded to ADSL Max by requesting it at the Internet members centre so if your order went through and is being processed there shouldn’t be any reason why you won’t get it.
The only problem with requesting it at the members centre is that they lock you into a new 12 month contract.
Elhana,
I’ve also yet to hear of anybody being upgraded automatically by Orange, I would assume if they ever do upgrade someone automatically then you wouldn’t be locked into a new 12 month contract?
I have rang Orange, and they have confirmed that i will get 8 Meg ADSL Max Service within 10 days and that it has gone through, and will be activated within 10 days.
About the contract thing, when i went for the Max service they told me that i was NOT in a new contract, and could therefore leave whenever i wanted, as i had been with them since freeserve days, and that service ses upto 8 meg, so me getting 8 meg shouldnt mean a new 12 month contract?! where is Orange's logic if that is true?!

Shouldn't be, they can't unilaterally extend a contract without agreement and from what I understand the terms and conditions method of "your use after xxxx a date means you agree" doesn't cut it.
AFAIK if you didn't pay a fee for the update to ADSL Max then you'll be in a new 12 month contract as I've not heard of any offers of waiving the extension yet.
Well i dont agree with the contact being extended or created for 12 months if you have the upgrade, because i originally signed up for the UPTO 8 Meg Service, and its not my fault that i could not get the 8 meg when i upgraded to it, so whether they give me the 8 meg when i upgraded or 3 months down the line, it shouldnt make any difference, i agreed the upgrade to the max upto 8 meg service without a new contract, so i should not be given a new contract by them given me what i agreed to in the first place??!?!?!
If they do do that then that is very unfair and bad practice, has anyone else had this issue? or noticed anything like this?
Well it's not like they're saying they're not going to upgrade you. It's a couple of days off being upgrades to 2 meg speed people within 5 months now. If you chose to get the upgrade now then thats your choice, it may not have been good options but it's your choice to make.
Changing speeds often results in problems cropping up, some easy, some not so, upgrading a couple hundred thousand at once would be an insane thing to do. Can you imagine how busy the phone lines would be and how many complaints there would be on here if they did that? There's no easy answer at this point.
Apperently Orange now do IP3Max since november aI just been told. Ive been kicking off for days now and he said but we do do IP3max since november we did a trial.
I may sound stupid, but what is IP3Max?! is that adsl max?
Yeah, should be ADSL Max.

And i am recieving the following stats from my livebox, is the noise margin fairly low? and does the rest of it look ok?
...
Noise margin (dB) : 9.3
Attenuation (dB) : 21.0
...
Downstream 8128
Upstream Rate 448
That looks perfectly fine, as long as the margin is over 6 you should be ok and with that sync'd at the full 8 meg you've got room to spare.
