Just found your website via Google while trying to find out more about LLU. Basically I've been with Freeserve, Wanadoo and now Orange for years. Never had a problem - until now. Maybe some other people can relate to :
1. Service down frequently (for days at a time)
2. Customer service is in India, and is rubbish
3. Spam filters seem to have stopped working in that past month
4. Terms and Conditions are changing this December (1 month notice to cancel and £10 for more than 1 MAC code AND charging for payments made via credit cards)
So, I'm off ! However I've found it hard to find providers to go to that take an LLU MAC, although I believe that ZEN Internet does (did a search on this forum).
So, basically is it just me or is Orange going down the pan, also has anyone change from LLU Orange to Zen Internet - if so, how did it go ?
Sounds very familar Paul, to you, me and thousands of others.
My advice is to ring Orange and cancel your broadband along with your direct debit.
See they issue dud MAC codes (needed to transfer to another ISP) or hold them back for weeks.
You will have down time of about 10 days but it's what I did in the end.
If you do manage to get a real MAC code I know Idnet.net accept LLU ones.
I am with them, since leaving Orange 5 months ago, and they are absolutley fantastic -
free customer support with friendly, knowledgable, ENGLISH SPEAKING staff who care
1 month contracts
100% reliable service
Do not let this lying, robbing, incompetent disgrace known as Orange hold you.
I think Orange have got worse since they started offering 'FREE' Broadband to it's mobile customers.
I'm looking into Idnet as well, they seem to have good user ratings and they offer a package at £17.99 which is what I'm paying with Orange, even through I've had 4 days where I've not been able to use it !
Another alternative provider is Be Broadband, just got out of Orange myself and am migrating this monday just so you know Be Broadband support LLU codes, they have a very good customer service (if u have any queries u can send one on the website). Its £24 for upto 24mb (although it'll most likely be around 10mb) with unlimited downloads go check their site out.
Yeah, I tried BE, but the telephone checker said they are not in my area yet. I'm just waiting on my MAC code, they said it would take a week which I know is rubbish as last time they sent me a MAC code (I was going to swap but didn't) it took 2 hours. I'm going to phone them now and find out what the hold up it.

Unlucky...but anything is better then Orange anyways. As for the MAC code it wasnt in the 48 hours they promised but it did come the next day so i was lucky but from what i've been reading around these forums it could take awhile if you're not lucky.
