open internet browser and type in 192.168.1.1/testinfo.html You will be prompted for name and password. If you have not changed this it should be admin admin.
Copy and post back the lower half of the test Info (IE from ADSL VERSION onwards). For a speedtest I would use www.speedtester.BT.com. Once you've entered you phone number you will go to other screen asking for you Orange logon. Enter and ok. Test should run and come back with results. Copy and paste back here with your test info and I'm sure someone will give you some guidance. Note: the speedtester can be very slow on occassions. I often sit there on the first screen for upto 2 minutes before getting in. Other times it comes back with test error reporting system busy. If this happens just keep trying.

I have tried that, but for some reason it opens a yahoo search page
I am using a Thomson Speedtouch 330 modem, I think that may be the problem

Sorry when you said you had upgraded to 8meg I thought you had been sent a Livebox. To get your line stats for 330 do the following:
If you do not have Dr. SpeedTouch installed, download it from: http://www.speedtouch.co.uk/do...st_300.zip
Once installed, there should be a new system tray icon appear. Right click on the icon and choose Advanced then Write log file to disk. It will ask you where to save the file - choose your desktop for convenience.
Once the window disappears, double click on the file called drst.xml on your desktop to view your line stats.
You should be able to do the speedtest without any additional info.
If you have only just gone onto adsl max then you will be in the 10 day line training period.
This will involve your speeds fluctuating quite a bit and soemetimes disconnecting. During this time you line is being tested for its maximum stable rate. After this period you should have a more stable line and connection.
Just a quick update, I finally got www.speedtester.BT.com to work, these are my results:
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7456 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1257 kbps
This is an everage of my currents speeds with 8Meg tesed using www.speedtest.net
Your profile seems ok. What stats do you get from your router. Have you checked the internal wiring to the sockets? When i unclipped all the wires except 2 & 5 from the master and all extensions I did get quite a jump in speed with greater snr.

Not using a router, using Speedtouch modem, checked all wires and they seem fine, I have the connection coming straight from the external phone line, through a box, always had a great connection until now.
I have ran another test using www.speedtest.net and I am getting these sort of results now
Maybe they have been doing the tests to see my best line config?
Probably, sounds like you might still be within the 10 day training period, or just out of it now. Hopefully it'll be stabilised and stick to that speed from now on.
