I have a client who is using Orange Broadband at home with a MAC running OS X.
Her internet access seems fine but her mail delivery (or lack of) is driving her insane.
Her account settings have not changed but she keeps getting a password rejection most time she checks for mail. I do not want to inconvenience her by getting her to change to Apple Mail (and I have read that this application suffers from similar issues) or Orange's 'supported' mail client which is Outlook Express. This is pure laziness on Orange's part not to support the more recent version of Outlook on the MAC.
I also set up a second mail account for her partner to use on his computer following instructions on the Orange web site. Sometimes mail sent to her is picked up by him, especially if she has not checked her mail, but she never picks up his mail. Surely this should not happen? for example she is she@firstnamesurname.orangehome.co.uk and he is he@firstnamesurname.orangehome.co.uk.
With any other ISP this is simple to set up and works perfectly, but Orange seem to not follow convention and do not allow a second account to be created which is completely separate from the main account.
Does anyone have any advice on the password or account problems being experienced?
The password rejection seems to be the same thing we are all suffering, whatever computers, systems or mail programmes we use.
I feel that someone really needs to put pressure on Orange to be straight about this problem. All I ever get is the same old links sent which prompt me to change everything at my end, when I feel we have now established the problem is at their end.
Well there were problems with the username and password being rejected over christmas, it's possible the problems come back. As long as the account is part of an active broadband account then there shouldn't really be a problem with the settings especially if they've not changed.
As for the accounts picking up email incorrectly, for each account the account name or username is set to the full email address isn't it? Doing this means the account picks up email only for that address. It's worth setting a catch all one though as emails not addressed to those 2 would then slowly clog the account up until it's full, blocking new emails coming in.
