I found your website after a client's house i visted. They told me about it so id thought i would log on. All i can say is that ive been dealing with these problems since 1st April when the LLU networks went live.
I usually do about 10 callouts a day and since 1st April all of these have been contention issues with the local exchanges and the higher 8meg speeds.
What wanadoo dont tell you is that you can ask to be put on a lower speed such as 2meg but it has a drawback. Its all to do with the first time you connect. The central exchange connects you at 8meg but due to the length and quality of your line a 'bounce back' signal from your computer may be slower than this. Basically, however fast your computer and existing BT line respondes to the 8meg signal determines your connection speed. This is usually in the first 10 days.
So, after all that, what can you do?
Well if your exchange hasnt been re-visited by Wanadoo to fix the equipment they installed then there isnt alot you can do. It may be possible to force your connection through using updates on your modem/router.
Ive spoken to a couple of Wanadoo Agents in the pass couple of days and apparently, their call centres are overloaded by calls with the same problems. They have been told to give a basic response "update your windows edition and drivers for modem and router"
If anyone needs help, post a comment after this and ill try and get back to you.

Hello XtRa
And welcome to WanadooProblems.co.uk
I have been perusing your posts - many of them in such a short period - THANK YOU!
You appear to be giving some sound advice...
Good to hear that the good name of this website is spreading... And quickly according to the server statistics...
I am about to post a message explaining that after 9weeks and 2days, my connection is back on! Now to sort out the promised compensation - that could be another 9weeks and 2days if what others on this website say is anything to go by!
What XtRa says is true.... but only for the BT Max product. Wanadoo LLU doesnt' work in quite the same way....
BT's IPStream Max service determines what is referred to as the "maximum stable rate" over a 10 day period using a DLM (Dynamic Line Management) system. After which the BRAS is rate limited to this figure (rounded down to the nearest half meg from memory).
I am led to believe that Wanadoo do have a "one shot" equivalent, but I don't believe it works over 10 days.
The long term solution to making high bandwidth DSL stable is DLM. Most major ISP's are in the process of developing such systems. There is an Alcatel white paper on the subject if you are interested.

Not strictly true ! I believe Wanadoo largely use Ethernet backhauled Alcatel ISAM's whereas BT use a mix of Alcatel ASAM's and Fujitsu 2nd Gen ATM DSLAM's. The actual DLM bit is a BT proprietary platform that is DEFINITELY not sold to Wanadoo for LLU. Trust me on that one !
Wanadoo are using the Alcatel DLM solution I believe. The DSLAM's may be similar, but the back end DLM algorithms are very different.
I work as a network architect for an ISP and am very involved with both LLU and IPStream Max.
