I called and asked for a MAC code, the operator said that he could 'definately' provide me with a MAC code. He then warned me that my account would be deactivated immediately. I accepted. Then I was told that my account had been closed (not migrated) and so I couldnt have a MAC code - the very thing I had asked for and he had promised me!!!

Well the O/P obviously told a blatant lie, still what's new at Orange?
The MAC is to allow migration with minimal disruption not instant disconnection.
If you have been disconected, ie just make sure first, they have done a cease.
STOP YOUR DD or the thieving *******s will keep taking your money.
Then be content that in 10-15 days Orange will be a thing of the past and things can only get better. Time soon flies.
I changed over a month ago after being on Freserve/Wanadoo/Orange for 8+ years. I did a cease and have never looked back.
I now have a stable, fast enough for me, connection, a cap I know about ie none of the unlimited c**p, with not a hicup AND NO ****ING spam , on a line Orange spent b*** s***ing me about for over 6 months
