You're not alone out there! I have been On 512K BB since Freeserve, then Wanadoo and now Orange. My 512K connection was fine for a very long time. Then along came Orange ... Now, I've been happy using Orange as my mobile service provider for a similar period of time, so wasn't at first worried. When I found I could get my BB service free with my mobile contract, even better. Yes, it is a capped connection but I decided I could track my usage and probably live with that. I contacted them, they changed my connection details and sent a Livebox. Around then my troubles started. First I queried why Orange was telling me my connection was still 512K when they were advertising 2 to 8 Mbs. (BT was telling me the line was capable of the higher rate connection.) They said the line wasn't currently capable of higher speeds yet but would become so.
Since then my connection has become slower and slower until it is now equivalent to a dialup at its worst and not much better at other times. The time of day and week seems to make no difference and it's not an issue that is going away. I have tried various utilities to try to improve matters and all to no avail. (To be honest I hadn't really expected fine tuning the PC to make a difference as the router is handling the internet connection.)
So Pip, a long story with no help forthcoming. Sorry! Are there any others of you out there with the same problem so we can go and beat the Orange doors down? Respond please.
