now where i live the exchange is not llu for a lot of providers Orange one of them tiscali and pipex another.
i originally was only told when i joined Orange that 1mb is fastest i could get when i was on 2mb with aol before hand.
okay then 2 month ago Orange advise 2mb is availible i believe through BT adsl max ?
yet another provider like tiscali or pipex who are not llu can offer me 6.5mb - 8mb
why is this?
oranges care team couldnt really give me any straight answer on this on but promptly dropped price of my package to 17 a month and lowered remainder of contract to last 6 month
but please anyone who can make sense of above please enlighten me.
I am in exactly the same boat. I am on the Unlimited package, which isn't unlimited as there is a 50Gb limit, and should get upto 8mb speeds but have only ever had 2mb. my exchange is ADSL Max enabled and the line supports 8mb, only 800 metres from the exchange.
orange couldn't be more unhelpful if they tried in their emails. iI spent over an hour on hold trying to speak to someone and eventually gave up. When you ring Orange the first thing the recorded message says is that they are committed to customer excellence, not found any evidence of that yet!!

As LLU isn't in the equation this comes partly down to BT. As it's IPStream BT set what the line can support. Sometimes this can cause problems as you may have been on one speed but the checks now say you can only get slower.
If you registered before October then you're on a non-max connection. Try checking through www.samknows.com availability checker to see what it shows as available, best paste it all in here except the phone number.

Once again if you regsitered before October then you will be on a non-max connection. Comes down to pay £20 for the upgrade if you get the option or wait to be upgraded automatically within 6 months.
2011? Switched on almost sounds like a reference to 21CN or something completely different.
Yeah well the option has been seen on the member centre but seems to come and go for no reason. Maybe there's a daily/weekly/monthly quota that they've set so as not to allow too many upgrades to go through at once that quickly fills up.
yeah checked samknows my local exhcange which is Nairn shows as BT adsl max enabled so really waiting on Orange to move theyre ass. i joined in july regretablly managed to get Orange to waiver the 20 quid fee to go from 1mb to 2mb but when ill get the full 8 my line is capable of from them is another thing.... going to wait 3 months and abuse my fair use policy see how much they like me then
