Basically last 5 days i've had no internet or it's come on for like 1-2 hours max 2 different times but the speed has been a lot slower.I am using speedtouch 330 modem on 8mb connection package but usually get 3mb, anyway this goes to like 2mb speed usually now and when modem finally connects after a day or few days without internet it connects at 3.2mb speed it says at bottom right corner instead of 7.6mb.
What's happening is the modem shows adsl light as flashing green when i get no connection, the phoneline doesn't work either but i called BT about it and they said the line is fine after a test.It keeps saying initializing line bottom rightside corner with the speedtouch icon, it's 3 yellow squares and one with a red kind of colour.(this is how it's been for majority of past 5 days)
So i've spoken to Orange, got a linetest from them and await results today.Anything else i should try if they say it's fine? when it's not, perhaps i need a livebox? seems odd too that the speed it reports has gone a lot lower aswell.
I'll assume you've already tried reinstalling the modem just to make sure the software's ok.
You said the phone doesn't work either when it's off. Does the phone work when you unplug the speedtouch from the line? If so and the line check comes back clear it's probably a fault with the modem. It could be a filter though so, you should have got 2 originally, try them each, 1 at a time and see if it helps.
I've tried reinstalling drivers, tried different filters, also the phoneline didn't work when i had tried with another phone connected directly to the socket even.(this is when it had flashing green adsl light and wouldn't connect.)
I called BT who provide the line and they said it's fine. Now i am currently getting different connection speeds when connecting, it'll say connected at 2.0mb one time then 2.5mb the next whilst resulting in many random disconnects.(i normally get it's connected at 7.6mb message at the icon bottom right corner.)When i called Orange, told them what i said to BT with what they replied, orange told me that BT can't check the adsl line which i guess is reason why it's not working at all as when adsl line is messed up so is phoneline?
So is this adsl line related or phoneline? i've had this problem before, after a few days it went back to normal speed for a while but not this bad and it's lasted nearly a week now.
