Sometime in mid May I received an email advising me that as a result of Wanadoo being taken over by Orange my connection speed would be increased free of charge. This work was to start on 9th June and may result in service disruption for no more than 30 mins
How Nice I thought, How wrong I was.
Since that day I have either
1) not been able to connect
2) connect (at 3.5) for no more than 30 secs
I have made a number of calls to Orange every day since then and have done all the usual tests that they ask of me
Check connections
reboot
restart modem
download modem optimiser software
I have been sent a new modem today - not yet tried it but I am guessing it wont make any difference
I have also be asked to refreshing XP nutshell - not done yet.
5 line tests have been done - all no fault found
Each call has resulted in the same questions being asked, being made to hold for several minutes whilst my history gets looked at or supervisors are consulted.
reoplacement modem installed - and guess what? - still flashing green light anfd connection either dropping within a few seconds or no dial tone. Interestingly when it does connect it shows 4meg.
Try my laptop connected direct to the master socket - still the same.
Another call made and this time they are going to do an end to end test and have also now set up a FREE dial up account for me until problem solved.
I guess this must mean they acknowledge the problem is with them (something I knew all along as this started when the faster speed was introduced)
