Hi guys im new to the site but there might be someone here with the same problem.
I opened an account 6 months or so ago with these monkeys and although I didnt pay too much attention to the smallprint I know for a fact it was an unlimited downloads account. Today I recieved a letter(no emails) telling me my usage is above 50 gig for the last month and if I dont decrease it they will close my account.
I have already decided im going elsewhere but I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.
It's the Fair Use Policy that catches you and other people out like this. It's like a "there's a limit or other usage limits, but we're not gonna tell you what they are!". Some ISP's FUP give much more details but a lot of them give vague terms that there's no definition to so they can set it to whatever they see fit really.

I thought unlimited meant unlimited
cheers
i got the same letter myself the other day. Very pi**ed off with it as i have been a loyal wanadoo customer for almost 6 years now. i am a heavy downloader , always have been, and i've never received such a letter from Wanadoo.
I am paying extra per month precisely because it is "unlimited". Now under Orange , it is no longer is "unlimited", which is taking the p**s to be honest.
There's very few true unlimited ISP's around, best check around and look into the small print, or better look for those that set a really high monthly allowance.
I believe the current letters are for usage over 50gig a month.
They did this every so often to heavy downloaders but it's probably easy to slip through the cracks and get unnoticed.
same here, im going to quit Orange too, but since im still in the 12 month contract, im goner continue to download heavy like i used to, aiming to get at least 300gb this month. during the letter it was 68gb. muwahaha

Cheers for the input guys, are there any other isp's where unlimited means unlimited?
My understanding is that the only ISP with a true "Unlimited" package left is AOL but that won't be for long as Talk Talk has just bought it, wouldn't suprise me if its already been FUP'd.
