Finally got my Livebox to work both wired and wirelessly – still stunned actually!! However Ive been very disappointed with the strength of the Livebox wireless signal when used at a distance from the pc.
When connected literally next to the pc I get full lime green signal strength and 54 mps, as you’d expect – but connect the Live box downstairs (probably no more than 15 feet in straight line), with my pc upstairs and I get 1-2mps and a changeable signal rating from yellow to non existent, to half the bars being green. Even next door upstairs I only get 5mps. Download rates are also knocked to about a third of what they are with the lan or with the livebox next to the pc. So wireless in this respect aint an option!!
The density of walls / ceilings etc obvious play a big part - and this is an old house – but how strong / effective generally is the Livebox? If I was to invest in say a Belkin or DLink modem / router could I expect better signal strength in this respect? Or is the Livebox just as good?
Another wireless router may help or it could be exactly the same.
One thing to try if you've not done so yet is to change channel, could just be interference on the current frequency. Log into the livebox and go into security and wireless. You'll need to rescan/reconnect between changes but this may help get a stronger signal.
