If people are having issues then report the problem within the stated time constraints by law, 7 days trial period, no questions asked returns, and then upto 28 days for 'signal' issues. Dont go complaining after months of usage that it doesnt work.
I was told by the Orange Shop that there was NO trial period and that ANY data traffic detected would constitute acceptance of the 18 month contract. They said it would also not be covered under DSR law either if I went online to order.
Some people do buy mobile broadband and phones where no BT or cable is available. You would expect that where the signal is strong like here (5 bars), the data channels should cope with normal usage. If I get 1.3 mbps in the morning I don't expect it to drop to 200kbps in the evening just because they sold iphones to schoolkids with Orange contracts. They should have upped the network before selling new contracts.
Furthermore the merging with T-Mobile has been a disaster (as expected). The network is falling apart and there's no money to expand the network.
This week the network has been a shambles. My upload speed (normally around 250kbps) has been less than 50kbps, often as low as 3kbps. There's dial-up and there's broadband dial-up. Yes they do reassign all bandwidth to voice in a crisis, but why has it taken 48 hours so far to fix it
I called to find out why the service was still downloading but not uploading. I was quite aware that they minimise the upload capacity when the channels were overloaded and I told them so. They wanted me to clean the SIM in case it was dusty (!) and check my software settings. When I pointed out that the SIM was indeed clean, that I used a 3G router in the attic that was showing 3g+ was connected, and ran Linux not Windows or their software they went into complete denial and refused to answer my original question until I reinstated the "proper" configuration (which was actually worse). The promised call-back never happened (shift change to India) and I had to reinstate my configuration.
Uneducated blinkered support. Why not give me a local network status update like I asked for?
Some of us moan about the service with justification.

The two networks have NOT been merged, there is a roaming agreement in place and a small trial of users who can roam on to both networks.
Get your facts straight before posting, the eventual merge will improve coverage and save costs for both networks, leaving more funds available for investment.
