If you got software with your wireless adapter, use that.
I have installed the software. Do you think I am stupid?
I never said that. Often software comes with Adapters, and im not talking about Drivers, actual software, i tried using the built in windows wireless network manager and it created ends of trouble. So after abotu half an hour i switched to the software which came with the adapter, and ever since, not problems.

Okay I was wrong to say that you think I am stupid. Anyway I am using the software that came with the USB adapter but it only tells me in the instructions to install the driver. Should I uninstall it and let windows detect it instead?

Do you have a program or not? I wouldnt uninstal it, on my old laptop i got an adapter with just a driver, i use the Windows manager to connect with that, but on my new one i have a Realtec Program which came with the adapter. You need to setup all the preferences to connect on the software which came with the adapter, WEP Key, security type etc etc. You should be able to set it all up in the configuration section of the software. Don't uninstall the driver if you try uninstalling the software (I can't the two are combined into one).

Okay here goes. Yes I have a program I have an icon on the desktop and in the task bar at the bottom to configer the adapter. I have put the WEP key into the configuration in order for it to connect when I click on start control panal network connections it says it is connected when I use windows to manage the configuration it still says that windows is unable to configure. I cannot think of any thing else I can do as the connection in the task bar for the wireless says that it has sent 4,991 and has recieved 33,253 not only that when I unplug the ADSL cable and run the livebox CD it says the name of the adapter with the IP address and it connects but when the ADSL cable is plugged in and the wired connection is disabled it will not ping the livebox.
