I decided to bite the bullet and install the LiveBox yesterday when I had a full day to sort things out and the Speedtouch modem is now history.
Touch wood the installation went relatively painlessly and I now have the main family PC and the wifes lappy both setup wirelessly with no major issues to report and getting excellent connection strength and speed. A few little niggles to sort out but I'm sure I can resolve them at my end....and no, the connection doesn't get lost at 21:45 !!
I have also re-jigged my wiring setup slightly and now have the Livebox plugged directly into the main BT box through the supplied filter.
That just leaves me to set both machines up so that I can share files and possibly a printer.
I have been a very happy customer of wanadoo for around 3 years now with broadband and I have never ever ever had ANY connection problems on my 2mb line.
Around a week ago, for some reason, my connection speed was upped without telling me (its now downloading at 320kb/sec, i used to get 120kb/sec). Now how i'm very happy they did this (i guess for free), im experiencing some VERY annoying problems. It seems to be every single evening, and i cannot pin-point what time, the connection is dropping. It can happen 2 times between 7pm and 2am or up to 10 times.
This is a serious problem for me as I play alot of competitive online games which requires the constant connection all the time.
I currently have an old PC with the very old green speedtouch modem running the internet and I use Internet Connection Sharing to share the connection to my entire network through a switch. I've had this setup on my 2mb line for years and it's never been a problem. The internet is plugged into the main BT socket.
